Description
Sunflower is an important oilseed crop that was domesticated in North America approximately 4000 years ago. During the last century, oil content, yield quality, pathogen resistance in sunflower has been subjected to strong selection and still, the improvement of sunflower remains a hot topic in modern agriculture. To date, high throughput genotyping is one of the key approaches used to describe genetic diversity as well as to find perspective genetic markers for sunflower improvement at a genome-wide scale. Here we performed high-throughput genotyping by sequencing (GBS) to collect genomic information on 601 inbred sunflower lines from Vavilov Research Institute of Plant Genetic Resources (VIR), Pustovoit All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Crops (VNIIMK), and Agroplasma Breeding Companys collections.
