Description
Pennisetum flaccidum Grisebach is a typical high-quality forage and drought-tolerant grass. In the present study, we firstly reported the complete chloroplast genome of P. flaccidum, which was 138,336 bp in length, including a pair of inverted repeats (IR:22,293 bp), a large single copy (LSC: 81,328 bp), and a small single copy (SSC: 12,422 bp) region. 131 genes were annotated, containing 7 rRNA genes, 37 tRNA genes, and 87 protein-coding genes. The GC content of the chloroplast genome was 45.86%. The Maximum likelihood phylogenetic tree indicated that P. flaccidum may be closely related to Setaria within the family of Poaceae.
