Description
This project uses an extreme-phenotype genome-wide association study to compare bulked DNA pools from Cannabis sativa plants divergent for alkyl and cyclic cannabinoid composition. Bulk DNA pools were generated from Cannabis sativa germplasm derived from the Ecofibre genetic resource collection. Purple Kush [GenBank: ASM23057v2] and Finola [GenBank: ASM341772v2] genome assemblies were used as reference for SNP calling of re-sequencing reads. Comparison of allele frequencies between bulk pools was used to identify putative candidate cannabinoid pathway genes and to validate the extreme-phenotype genome-wide association study approach in the obligate outcrossing and highly heterozygote plant genus Cannabis.
