Description
To investigate the population structure and genetic diversity of mulberry cultivars from different areas, 132 mulberry cultivars across China and Japan and 2 wild mulberry trees (Morus cathayana Hemsl) from Shaanxi province of China were collected and re-sequenced at an average depth of 15.6-fold coverage. In these samples, 25 mulberry cultivars are mainly from the Taihu Basin of China (Hu mulberry), 87 mulberry cultivars are mainly from the rest of China, and 20 mulberry cultivars are mainly from Japan. The winter buds (2-3g) without flakes were sampled from mulberry cultivars, and 10 micrograms of genomic DNA prepared by standard CTAB extraction protocol was used to construct the library of 150 bp and 100 bp in length, respectively. Sequence libraries were constructed according to the Illumina library preparation protocol, and sequenced on the Illumina Hiseq platform and BGI platform to generate 150 bp and 100 bp paired-end reads, respectively.
