Description
Apricot (Prunus armeniaca Linn.) is a major forest tree species that is adversely affected by spring frost. However, the mechanisms regulating gene expression in response to frost under natural conditions remain relatively uncharacterized. In this study, we analyzed the molecular characteristics of pistils from two apricot cultivars (‘Weixuan 1’ and ‘Longwangmao’) that differ regarding cold tolerance under spring frost. The cold tolerance of the pistils in the two apricot cultivars was evaluated based on phenotypic, anatomical, and physiological analyses. Additionally, RNA sequencing technology was used to analyze the pistil transcriptomes in response to spring frost.
