• Description: In an attempt to further increase knowledge about the evolution and adaptation of freshwater picophytoplankton, we isolated a Mychonastes strain from Lake Chaohu, a highly eutrophic lake, and sequenced its complete genome by using third-generation sequencing (PacBio Sequel). Here, we conducted combined analysis of the complete genome sequences of Mychonastes sp. and other Sphaeropleales species as well as picophytoplankton species to investigate the evolutionary history and environmental adaptation of Mychonastes sp.
