Description
In this study, we applied high-throughput sequencing technology for the first time to identify the small RNA population expressed in chlorophyllic cell cultures derived from B. gracilis, which is a high-quality forage and drought-resistant grass for livestock and other animals that inhabit the semiarid regions of the United States and northern Mexico.Although in the present study the B. gracilis genome has not been sequenced, the bioinformatics analysis showed the existence of conserved and novel putative microRNAs families, as well as some conserved miRNA families were highly abundant and possessed predicted targets including B. gracilis ESTs, involved in metabolism, plant growth and development, and stress responses.
