Description
Atemoya (Annona cherimola Mill. × Annona squamosa L.), a commercially important subtropical fruit tree, is well adapted to the edapho-climatic conditions of southern China. Atemoya belongs to the family Annonaceae, consisting of about 129 genera and more than 2000 species. Atemoya fruit is well known due to its pleasant flavor, high carbohydrate content, and abundant ascorbic acid and other nutrients. Atemoya is a typical climacteric fruit with a short shelf life when stored at ambient temperature during the postharvest period. High respiration rate and soluble solids content are the major causes for the rapid ripening of atemoya .
