• Description: In this study, we sequenced a fruit transcriptome from A. eriantha to first identify and characterize all unigenes present in the developing fruit. Second, we developed SSR markers and tested the transferability of the developed EST-SSRs to other related diploid species. Lastly, we proved the usability of these markers by analyzing genetic diversity and structure of seven wild populations of A. eriantha.
