• Description: We used isolated zygotene meiocytes and corresponding anthers from the Zea mays inbred line CML228 and 2-week-old seedlings for RNA extraction and library construction for sequencing with Illumina technology. ~20,000 meiocytes and ~15 anthers were collected from 5 CML228 maize plants, and for the seedling sample 3 2-week old CML maize seedlings were pooled.
