Description
Castanea Miller (Fagaceae) is one a monoecious plant genus with ecological and economic value. Castanea Miller species (Fagaceae) are cultured in many countries of the world due to important role in nut. The nuts are good taste and rich in nutrition. However, the small ratio of female and male flowers is one of the critically limited factors for the low seed yield of the species. Thus, exploring the mechanism of floral sex differentiation in the species is a desirable work; this valuable information would provide clues for improving seed yield. In recent years, much attention of researchers has been attracted studies on a novel natural bud mutant of Chinese chestnut, but the information of sex expression in the species remains limited. This study provides a unique set of databases, invaluable for gene discovery, which might reveal the regulatory networks of sex-specific flower development of a non-model monoecious tree species.
