Description
Pollen-pistil interaction is a conserved and essential part of reproductive process for flowering plants. While microRNAs (miRNAs) are important noncoding small RNAs that regulate mRNA levels in different cells of eukaryotes, there is little knowledge about miRNAs involving in early stages of pollen-pistil interaction in rice, which is crucial to rice yield. In this study, we sequenced the small RNAs from unpollinated rice pistil (R0), pistil from 5 minutes (R5) and 15 minutes (R15) after pollination, respectively, to identify known and novel miRNAs that are potentially involved in pollen-pistil interaction.
