• Description: Helianthus maximiliani is a widespread diploid perennial sunflower found throughout much of North America. Steep latitudinal clines in life history and morphological traits have been reported for this species. To facilitate population and functional genomic analyses of clinal differentiation and local adaptation in H. maximiliani, we characterized the transcriptomes of geographically separated and ecologically divergent populations of this species.
