Description
This work aims to identify differentially expressed transcripts between the two mating types of Primula vulgaris. This species has a heteromorphic self-incompatibility breeding system, which couples differences in flower morphology to a self-pollen recognition system. This species has been a classic model of this phenomenon. Here we sequence the transcriptomes of flower buds of each mating type both early and late in development, to generate a de novo transcriptome and identify transcripts which are differentially expressed between mating types.
