• Description: The Upland cotton (G. hirsutum) SureGrow (SG747) and G. barbadense (Giza75) were chosen as the female parent and the male parent, respectively. The F1 was backcrossed with “SG747” 2 times, followed by selfing four times, resulting in the development of 146 backcrossed inbred lines, BILs, also called near-isogenic lines, NILs. “Long” and “Short” were chosen from these NILs with remarkably different lengths in fibre.
