Gossypium hirsutum degradome
The Upland cotton (G. hirsutum) SureGrow (SG747) and G. barbadense (Giza75) were chosen as the female parent and the male parent, respectively. The F1 was backcrossed with “SG747” 2 times, followed by selfing four times, resulting in the development of 146 backcrossed inbred lines, BILs, also called near-isogenic lines, NILs. “Long” and “Short” were chosen from these NILs with remarkably different lengths in fibre.
