Description
Ceratoides arborescens (Krascheninnikovia arborescens) is a specialty plant of xerophytic shrub, known for its adaptability to cold, barren circumstances and high tolerance to water deficiency. Ceratoides arborescens (Losinsk.) Tsien et C. G. Ma cv. Wulanchabu is a newly introduced cultivated variety bred from wild Ceratoides arborescens, with a more developed root system, stronger resistance to drought and higher yield as a nutritious forage grass than the wild strains. However, little is known about the genomic components of Ceratoides arborescens, which impedes both the studying of its metabolic mechanism and the utilizing of valuable genes. Therefore, sequencing and assembling the transcriptome of C. arborescens cv. Wulanchabu is the first step of developing large scale genetic information, which will throw some light on further study of drought resistance and other valuable characteristics of Ceratoides arborescens.
