• Description: Sucrose concentrations, water uptake and drought stress response are altered in Poplar plants with reduced expression of a tonoplast sucrose transporter, PtaSUT4. A transcriptomic analysis of roots, leaves, xylem and bark was undertaken in order to mechanistically link SUT4 function with the orchestration of plant carbon and water use during a drought-recovery cycle.
