Description
Chickpea is the third most important pulse crop in world and the most important pulse crop of India. India and its adjoining countries responsible for 90% of world’s chickpea production, but the yield of this important pulse crop is severely challenged by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. ciceris race 1 (Foc1). This wilt disease accounts for 10-15% yield loss annually. In the present study we focused on differential transcriptomic modulations of wilt susceptible and wilt resistant chickpea genotypes upon Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. ciceris race 1 (Foc1) infection. In this experiment we have generated a good amount of high quality (HQ) reads with a maximum read length of 100. High quality reads filtering was performed using SeqQC-V2.0. Subsequently, we have identified transcripts for each sample using NCBI (Papillionoideae) and Medicago DFCI gene index (MTGI) databases. Comparison of expressional pattern was carried out using DESeq program package based on benjamini hochburg procedure. The availability of these transcriptomic data is very important to understand infection dynamics and development of sustainable resistance in chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.). This work will also guide functional genomics research towards advancement of chickpea as well as other related legume crops
