Description
Wood basic density (WBD), the biomass of plant cell walls per unit volume is an important trait for elite tree selection of kraft pulp production. Here, we investigated correlation between WDB and wood volumes, or wood properties using 98 open-pollinated, 2.4-2.8 year-old hybrid Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus urophylla x E. grandis) progenies whose mother tree had 607 kg/m3 at 6.0 year-old of WBD. These progenies demonstrated 515.9 kg/m3 with normal distribution and there were no correlations between WBD and wood volume, or each component of ??????-cellulose, hemicellulose and Klason lignin content. Transcriptomic analysis of two groups, high- (570.3- 609.4 kg/m3) or low-WDB (377.8- 408.5 kg/m3) five plants each was carried out by RNA-Seq.
