Description
Whole genome shotgun sequencing of green macroalga Caulerpa lentillifera. Green seaweeds of the genus Caulerpa are characterized by coenocytic unicellular body. The genomic information is demanded to increase food productivity and understand environmental interaction of this genus. The all genomic libraries were produced from edible sporophytes cultivated in Okinawa. The sequenced RNA was isolated from flesh growing sporophytes. The genome size of C. lentillifera is estimated to be ~33 Mb and the assembly covers 92% of the estimated size. Scaffold and contig N50 lengths are 823 kb and 95 kb, respectively. The C. lentillifera genome contains 10,430 protein-coding genes that were predicted by RNA-seq and assembled transcriptome data.
