Description
Apple (Malus ? domestica Borkh.) is one of the most marketable and popular fruit crops, which yearly produce over 80 Mt of commodity throughout the temperate regions of the world. The 52% of domestic cultivated apple trees are Fuji. Fuji is a giant that keeps its overwhelming popularity for several decades, because of its juiciness, well-balanced taste and long shelf-life until the beginning of the next summer. The development of DNA markers to select the genotypes inheriting preferable phenotypes of Fuji is required. We carried out genome re-sequencing of Fuji apple to develop DNA markers.
