The wood is privately owned and managed for timber production, nature conservation and amenity. It is an ancient woodland with a mixture of semi-natural and replanted stands. It is accessed from the minor road heading east from Hook End village south of Checkondon (East of A4704). Permission must be sought from Tilhill Forestry, who manage the wood.
