C500H0, PI 663879
subsp. vulgaris cv. Sugar beet
C500H0 also know as C500CMS is the annual male sterile tester, originally developed by Owen at Salt Lake City. It has been increased and used at Salinas continuously until 2006 to index for O-type. Before 1975, the line was called 1460H0 at Salinas. The maintainer of C500H0 is C500.
C500H0 is the cytoplasmic male sterile equivalent of C500. It should be homozygous for all traits with only green hypocotyls (100% rr). Any plant that is not equivalent to C500 is likely an unintended outcross and should not be used.
