16 Jul 2013 The wheat powdery mildew genome evolution

The wheat powdery mildew genome shows the unique evolution of an obligate biotroph. A European consortium including researcher from URGI showed that the genetic heritage of wheat powdery mildew has provided the diversity needed to adapt during evolution to its geographical environment and new host plants. These results published July 14, 2013 in the journal Nature Genetics, reveal the original ability of the fungus to adapt to its host.
