10 Sep 2013   Repeatome scouting sheds light on plant genome evolution

Florian Maumus

The characterization of transposable elements and other repeated sequences in genomes is of primary importance for the comprehension of genome evolution and species adaptation. However, little is known about the evolution of repeated sequences over long periods of time... Overall, we show that the ancient proliferation of repeat families has long term consequences on A. thaliana biology and genome composition.
